2026 Goals

Introduction

Happy New Year Y'all!

I hope you had good holiday season with family, friends, or maybe just one special person even if it's your pet. I know the holidays can be a tough time of year so I am sending you hugs and know that you are here and made it through! I am proud of you!

I know it's been a while since I've posted and if you want a further explanation on where I have been, where is my book at, etc.  It's really all due to life, mental health, and personal growth. You can check out this journal entry for more details.

This year I took a full two weeks to really think about what I want. What would make me happy? What would make me feel the feelings I want to feel? Happy, proud of myself, successful, and more. I brainstormed, sat with all the ideas, chose a word of the year, made a new vision board. The whole shebang. It was an amazing time and it really focused me for the year. What I ended up with feels amazing and aligned with who I am now. I got clear on what I want and I have decided I am doing the dang thing.

I also plan to check in every quarter this year and re-evaluate. Make sure what I chose still feels good and aligned and if it doesn't, change it up. And to allow myself to do this earlier if needed. So with that said, none of my goals are 100% set in stone as life happens, I grow and change, all the things. But what I write below is what feels good now, what I am planning on achieving, and I am excited about all of it.

A Note:

Below are my goals that are related to this writing, publishing, and reading journey. I have a few others that I'm not sharing, but know that these are my main focus this year and what I am most excited to do!

If you need help with goal setting I highly recommend The Desire Map book by Danielle Laporte. Be warned, I cried doing this workbook. It will truly help you understand how you want to feel. I also recommend going to Pinterest and searching "Goal Setting" for a quick start.  I also like to refer to Zig Ziglar's Wheel of Life as well as a good starting point in each of the 7 goal setting categories.

Word of The Year: Brave

Writing Goals

  • Write & publish 3 books that I’m proud of.
  • Have my books made into audiobooks.
  • Achieve financial freedom through my writing.
Actions I'm taking: Daily habit tracking, writing everyday, and overall creating before I consume.

Other Goals:

Health

  • Consistently drink more water, get 7-9 hours of sleep, and do intentional movement.
  • Daily Journaling-Gratitude & Reflection
Actions I'm Taking: Drinking water out of a straw and taking my water bottle with me everywhere. Going to bed earlier, and choosing workouts that sound fun and feel doable. Starting with 1% changes.

Reading

  • Read/Listen to 100 books
  • Read  at minimum 1 non-fiction book a month
  • Catch up on my book reviews and continue to leave reviews for every book read. (This is the most helpful thing you can do for any author!)
Actions I'm Taking: Continue listening to audiobooks so I can be productive at the same time. I am habit tracking one book review per day till I am caught up.

Conclusion:

And there you have it! Those are my goals for 2026 and I am giddy! This year is the year of the fire horse and I am feeling all of that energy! I have healed a lot, grown up a lot, let go of a lot,  and I know that this is my time to take action, create, be brave, and do it all.

I wish you all the best on your 2026 plans, goals, and more! Let me know in the comments something you want to achieve this year!

As always,
Happy writing and reading! xoxo

Where Have I Been? A Journal Entry on The Last Few Years

Introduction: Hey everyone! Happy New Year! I'm back! I know I haven't posted in over a year and I am here to tell you all about why and what's been going on. I hope your holidays went well, your writing and reading has been joyful, and that you are smashing your goals for the month already. I hope you are doing things you love that bring you happiness and may this year be the best for you! Things Didn't Go As I Planned... Here I am in 2026, not published, not a lot of my goals met that I have set year after year. Some new and some old. Putting out all my words of wisdom, writer advice, and failing at it myself. Story of my life. Lol  I know the secrets, but doing them for myself is a whole different ball game. I've been on a journey these last 5 years since I started writing and I've learned a lot, experienced a lot, and grown up a lot all on the road to success. It will happen for me. Just a few years later than I planned, and that is okay. My writing journey ...

Writing What You "should be" writing vs. Writing What you Love

As this year comes to a close, I wanted to share about the battle of writing what you think you should be writing vs. what you love. When I first started writing, I thought I should write a YA fantasy very much along the lines of Twilight. Now, I still love Twilight to this day as much as my 13 year old heart did, and I will forever be in the fandom and my heart in Forks, WA, but as I was writing my Twilight-esque book, I noticed it got harder and harder as I went on. I wasn't loving the book anymore. It's because I was reading and loving all of these steamy contemporary billionaire romance novels and that is where my heart was, and what I was supposed to be writing. Not forcing out a book that teenage me would like. Or I found "more respectable or credible" somehow. But the truth was I wasn’t reading YA anymore and  I shouldn’t have been writing in a genre I wasn’t passionate about anymore.   So, I quickly wrapped up that book to give myself some closure and then s...

A Newbie's Guide To Audiobooks: For Readers

Introduction:  So you want to get into audiobooks. Yay! I was once starting where you are and was lost and confused. I was also the reader that once turned my nose up to audiobooks thinking that it wasn't for me, and now I am an audiobook junkie! When you can read while driving, working, cleaning, and grocery shopping, it becomes a no brainer. You can go about your life and be productive while not ever feeling readers guilt! It's the best of both worlds.  I started audiobooks in March of 2022. My day job allows me to leave headphones in, and as a voracious reader, the temptation to be able to consume more stories anyway I could won out.  Below I will share all the things you need to know when getting started in audiobooks, and all the ways you can listen!  Getting Started: Devices: You just need your phone, tablet, or e-reader, and you can have access to any audiobooks you want.  It's no secret audiobooks can be pricey, and when you are getting started, you are ...
