I've found that as I'm writing my books sometimes the internet is too overwhelming in answers. I'm not talking about basic ones, like an area code for a state, but the ones that are deeper like ways people handle loss. You google your question and are hit with thousands of results and websites to sift through and you don't know what's accurate. Then you end up wasting hours bogged down in articles, and overwhelmed.
As I was working on my current book, I needed to know how a character handled a particular trauma. So instead of being overwhelmed by the internet, I pulled out my Writers Helping Writers Emotional Wound Thesaurus. Yes, an actual physical book. And it was so much easier having one book that I knew I could trust, and honestly, it confirmed I was on the right path with my thoughts on how my character would feel and react. Plus, all the information I needed was condensed onto 2 pages instead of millions of internet hits. Books are magic!
These Thesauruses are not talked about enough and honestly they can be used to help you spark ideas and plot your story with how much info is in them. There is one for every aspect of story from setting to conflict, and occupations. I highly recommend them if you are like me and you get tired of all the chatter and noise online and just need one reliable resource. I let this sit on my shelf way to long, but I will now be utilizing them for every book going forward.
Happy Writing!
