Journal Entry #4

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you had a day filled with family, friends, and good food, or just doing what you love and enjoy. I can’t believe how fast this month and this whole year have flown by. Each year I get older, the faster it truly goes. I’m writing this just for a day of reflection and remembering that gratitude in all things is the key on this journey.  This year has gone in a blink and honestly it’s made me realize how much more intentional I need to be with my time and my commitments to myself. Because here I am, 2023 almost over, and I haven’t published my book yet. It’s created a sense of urgency in me because time really is so precious, and we will never have enough, so I’m getting focused and clear on my dreams and goals for the next few months, and I’m so excited for the future.   I have also learned so much more this year about myself, my goals-like how I want to feel from a goal I set (I highly recommend doing The Desire Map Workbook ), an...

How I Organize my Pinterest Board to Help me Write a Book

I feel like Pinterest has been around my whole life at this point. I for sure was using it back when I was in high school when it came to recipes and craft projects and that's coming up on 10 years ago.  As I grew up, my Pinterest account grew and changed from craft projects to planning my wedding, to home decor, and more.  But as an author, I feel like we can easily forget that pinterest is the perfect place to make the photo visual board of our books. It can help you plot out the story, create the visual of your characters, setting, and scenes, and even stumbling across a photo may inspire a new idea for the story, and help you out when you get stuck in the writing process.  Now I've always had my author Pinterest page set up and yes, I did make a board for my current work in progress, but it was very random and not really useful.  Then, I saw the way author C E Ricci organized her pinterest boards for her books and it blew my mind. It was laid out perfectl...

A Quote For Authors : The Secret by Rhonda Byrne

Today, I want to give you some Quotes from The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. I have read this book/audiobook twice and I truly believe this book is key in helping anyone achieve their dreams. It is so powerful. It is essentially on the law of attraction and everything that goes along with that. The whole Secret Series is worth the read. Plus the documentary and movie version is on Amazon prime if you'd rather watch it.  I also have found that the free Super Secret App helps you to stay on track with what the book teaches. It has daily affirmations, and gives you a space to write your gratitude list everyday in there. I absolutely love it, and if you're like me and you hate journaling, this app might be for you.  I hope these inspire you on your writing journey!  Have you read The Secret? Let me know in the comments. 💖 "Your life is in your hands. No matter where you are now, no matter what has happened in your life, you can begin to consciously choose your thoughts, and you ca...

When The Internet is Overwhelming for Book Research

I've found that as I'm writing my books sometimes the internet is too overwhelming in answers. I'm not talking about basic ones, like an area code for a state, but the ones that are deeper like ways people handle loss. You google your question and are hit with thousands of results and websites to sift through and you don't know what's accurate. Then you end up wasting hours bogged down in articles, and overwhelmed.  As I was working on my current book, I needed to know how a character handled a particular trauma. So instead of being overwhelmed by the internet, I pulled out my Writers Helping Writers   Emotional Wound Thesaurus. Yes, an actual physical book. And it was so much easier having one book that I knew I could trust, and honestly, it confirmed I was on the right path with my thoughts on how my character would feel and react. Plus, all the information I needed was condensed onto 2 pages instead of millions of internet hits. Books are magic!  These Thesauruse...

Writing With Fear #2: Read Big Magic

I know there are TONS of books out there on writing, creativity, craft, and so on. I’ve read several, but at the end of the day reading and research can become one of the biggest forms of procrastination and self sabotage. So just watch and make sure you are still getting your writing done like you planned before falling down the research hole.  I say to tread carefully because I’ve done it myself. I still do it. I am a master of procrastination who is currently in recovery, but will always be an “addict.”   We are the only reason we are successful or not. We decide how our life is going to go at the end of the day.   Remember: Success is a decision.
